Construction is our heritage
History of the Donald Borg Construction Company reaches back four generations to Chris Borg, a pioneering Chicago leader in the postwar building boom of the 1950s. Through the years, we have remained focused on providing a level of personal attention to detail that has helped make Donald Borg Construction a national presence in the construction industry. Today, the vision and leadership of a new generation continues to build upon the company’s legacy of expertise.

At the time of its construction, in the aftermath of the Fire of 1871, the Washington Block was one of the tallest buildings in the city. It is a critical link to understanding the evolution of the Chicago skyscraper. The ornate detailing of its virtually intact limestone facades makes the Washington Block a building of individual architectural distinction.

First Generation
The Beginning
After emigrating from Denmark to Chicago, Chris Borg founds Borg & Sons Construction, Chicago, Illinois.
1940s
A BUILDER IS BORN
Cultivating Talent
Chris Borg’s son, Paul Borg Sr., begins cultivating his carpentry talent as a shipbuilder for the U.S. Navy.
1950s
SECOND GENERATION
Paul Borg Sr.
Paul Borg Sr. founds his own construction company: Paul Borg Construction Company, Chicago Ill.
1970s
THIRD GENERATION
Donald R. Borg
Paul Borg Sr.’s son, Donald R. Borg, begins apprenticing with his father at Paul Borg Construction.
1993
OUR NAMESAKE
Our Founder
Donald R. Borg sets out on his own and opens the doors to Donald Borg Construction Company.
2000
fourth generation
A Family Business
The next generation of the Borg family learns the industry, embracing the family business.
2005
